RINGSPANN RCS develops customized cable controls for sanitary applications

The global market for standard Bowden cables is vast and difficult to navigate. These are often bi-directional push-pull cables that ensure convenient, low-loss, and energy-independent force transmission in sometimes sensitive safety, drive, and control applications. Equally demanding are device-related applications where the specific design of the cable systems is influenced by both fluid engineering requirements and unconventional construction and design concepts. This is illustrated by several special solutions recently developed by RINGSPANN RCS for various OEMs in the sanitary sector. These primarily involve uni- or mono-directional push and pull cables which - since they are operated directly by end users - must demonstrate high everyday usability, robustness, and operational reliability. “Additionally, our customers consistently specify that these cable systems must be easy to install and require minimal maintenance,” explains Robert Lacko, Head of Sales at RINGSPANN RCS.

Quality and creativity

RINGSPANN RCS sanitary cable systems operate according to the proven Bowden cable principle and are primarily used as control and adjustment elements in flushing systems for toilets and washbasins, as well as in bathtub drain assemblies. Their quality characteristics include intelligent design, carefully selected materials, high-precision manufacturing, and the creative adaptation to customer- and application-specific requirements. While RINGSPANN RCS offers a wide range of fastening and connection options within its standard portfolio, sanitary push and pull cables are typically equipped with customized end fittings to ensure seamless integration into drainage and flushing system designs. “In many cases, we develop and manufacture specialized die-cast or injection-molded components that meet specific requirements in terms of flexibility, as well as ease of installation and removal,” says Robert Lacko. In addition to fundamental parameters such as bending radius, stroke length, and applied force, many other components of the cable systems can be adapted to the operating environment or the design framework of drainage and flushing systems - such as threaded hose fittings, seals, or connection types. “Thanks to our in-house development expertise, production capabilities, and CNC-based testing technology, we are able to implement virtually any customer requirement,” Lacko emphasizes.
